Back to Books
Base Design is an international creative network, a Brussels-born studio (1993) with hubs in New York, Geneva, and Melbourne, specializing in branding, visual identity, digital design, motion, copywriting, spatial design, and publishing. Their clients span cultural heavyweights like Bozar, La Monnaie, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, MoMA, and the futur KANAL centre Pompidou.

In Brussels, although Base doesn’t hold its own exhibition space, it makes meaningful cultural statements through curated projects. One standout is “Back to Books” a daring print-focused exhibition held at Saint-Martin Bookshop from April 5 to 27, 2025. It revisited the raw, creative energy of printed media from 1992 to 2010, showcasing artist collaborations, exhibition catalogs, magazines, and self-promotional oddities from before the rise of social media .

Across the border in Geneva, Base channels that same cultural spirit through Base Window. As described by Hervé Rigal, BaseGVA Partner & Director of Strategy, “Base Window is a project that opens up perceptions, that creates bridges between Base, the artists and the public.” This initiative manifested as a website
and gallery-without-walls extends Base’s Geneva gallery experience beyond physical space, bringing creative experimentation and cross-disciplinary engagement to a wider audience.
