The exhibition space was inaugurated by visual artist and designer Stéphane Barbier Bouvet, who set up an ambitious and critical exhibition titled “Design as We Speak.” The exhibition is based on Barbier Bouvet's ongoing commitment to using design as both an application and a form of knowledge and critical commentary about art and design.
Starting with a cabin, the exhibition presents the key elements of the artist’s practice, focusing on autonomy, adaptability, lightness, and evolution. Three cabin models were displayed, each distinct in terms of design and habitability, and none of them were presented as ‘finished’. The cabins respond to the essential conditions for creating shelter and autonomy, while also serving as spaces for introspection and critique.
The exhibition does not aim to present three completed structures; rather, it represents Barbier Bouvet’s applied proposals in real life.
