Zaventem Ateliers is located in Flanders, at the heart of the town of Zaventem, just steps away from Brussels. This former 6,000m² paper mill has been transformed into a truly creative hub, driven by the vision of designer, scenographer, and interior architect Lionel Jadot.
The industrial building houses around thirty individual studios of varying sizes, including Lionel Jadot’s own workshop. Since its opening in September 2018, Zaventem Ateliers has become home to nearly all its available studios, hosting artists and collectives working in diverse crafts such as ceramics, leather, metal, marble, and wood. This eclectic group of creatives, with their varied backgrounds and personalities, forms a dynamic and innovative community.
At the center of this vibrant space lies the Grand Hall, a 600m² exhibition area that serves as the heart of the ateliers. This impressive hall not only enhances the creative ambitions of Zaventem Ateliers but also fosters dialogue with the wider world. Its unique setting allows visitors to experience both curated exhibitions and the lively energy of the surrounding workshops. This immersive environment offers guests the rare opportunity to engage directly with artists and designers, creating intimate and inspiring moments.
To support its growth and programming, Zaventem Ateliers entrusts curatorial responsibilities to prominent figures from the worlds of design, art, and architecture. These curators orchestrate a series of innovative events and exhibitions to showcase the ateliers' vision.
The first Artistic Director, Dimitri Jeurissen, co-founder of Base Design, has taken the helm with an ambition to push the boundaries of design, craft, and art. His curation seeks to merge these disciplines into groundbreaking and thought-provoking experiences.
